A rescue runs on foster homes, and a home only fits when the details match the animal. A message that says "I can foster" does not tell you about the spare room or the other pets. I would rather ask first.
Before the form opens
Decide which animals need homes and what care they need. Write down your foster rules, because the form has a box where applicants confirm that a foster animal still belongs to the rescue. Share the link on your page and in your volunteer group.
While it is open
Applicants say which animals they can take, how many, for how long and from when. They say whether they can give tablets, bottle feed or care for an animal after surgery. They describe the home, their own pets and how much time someone is in. A foster's AI might ask "Which animals can you foster?" Then "What is the longest stay you can offer?" Then "Can you keep a new animal apart from your own pets?" It shows the answers and sends only after a yes. Read about agent-fillable forms.
After you read the CSV
Sort by medical comfort and start date, then call the applicants whose home fits an animal waiting now. This is a form, not legal advice. Have a professional check your foster agreement. Browse forms for pet businesses and rescues and forms for nonprofits and charities. A pet adoption application covers the permanent home, and a lost pet report helps with strays you take in.
Questions
How do I match a foster to an animal waiting now?
Download the CSV and filter the animals_you_can_take column for the kind you need. Then check the care_you_can_give and earliest_start columns, and call the closest fit first.
Can I keep the list current?
Each response is a snapshot. Set close_at when you want a pause, and reopen the form later. Ask fosters to send the form again when their situation changes.
Does the form say who is approved?
No. It collects answers only. You decide who is approved, and you tell the applicant yourself, because the form does not email the people who fill it.
