A pledge card at a gala is a promise on paper. I would rather also keep it in one place I can total and follow up. This form records who will give, how much, how often and when.
Use this when
Supporters promise gifts at a campaign, a gala or a drive, and you collect the money later by your usual route. It suits money, goods and time.
Skip it when
You need to take the gift now. The form takes no payments and no card details. It sends no reminders either, so follow up yourself.
What is asked and why
- Name and contact: so you can thank and follow up.
- Amount, frequency and start date: give you a pledge total and a cash-flow plan.
- Fund and how they expect to give: point the gift to the right place.
- Employer match: a prompt many supporters forget.
- Private and contact boxes: respect their wishes.
What a supporter's AI would ask
"How much would you like to pledge?" Then "How often will you give?" Then "Which fund is it for?" It shows the answers and sends only after a yes. Read about agent-fillable forms.
Before you use it
Say plainly that a pledge is an intention to give, not a payment. See forms for nonprofits. Record gifts as they arrive with a donation receipt form, and handle outside asks with a donation request form.
Questions
Is a pledge the same as a payment?
No. The form records the promise and takes no payment. Collect the gift through your normal route and tick it off against the pledge in your own sheet.
How do I total pledges by fund?
Download the CSV, filter by pledge_fund and add up pledge_amount. Check pledge_frequency first, because a monthly pledge is paid more than once.
Can the form remind pledgers to give?
No. The form sends no reminders or emails to the person who filled it. Use your own newsletter or a personal message, with the email column.
