Typeform, Google Forms and Tally iframes: what AI fill can do

Updated 2026-10-30

Your visitors are tired of typing into boxes. Let their AI do it. I must be honest with you here: the script under your form cannot read a form that sits inside an iframe from Typeform, Google Forms or Tally. Here is why, and what you can do.

Why it cannot work

These tools show your form from their own web address, inside a frame on your page. Google says to copy the HTML from More, then Embed HTML. Tally says to open the Share tab, choose an embed type, and click Get the code. Typeform's embed library puts the form in an iframe too.

The browser keeps pages from different addresses apart. MDN says that when two documents do not have the same origin, references between them give very limited access. A script on your page cannot read the boxes inside the frame. This rule protects people. I will not work around it, and I would not want to.

What really happens

I tested it. I put a form inside a frame from a different address, and the script under the frame, with a data-form selector for that form. Nothing happened. No button, no error. The form inside the frame stayed as it was.

html
<iframe src="https://forms.example.com/your-form" title="Your form"></iframe>
<script src="https://aiformapi.com/agent-fill.js" data-form="#your-form"></script>

The script above finds no form with that id on your page. It does nothing.

Option 1: rebuild the form in AI Form API

Make the same questions in AI Form API and embed the form with one script. Your visitor's AI can then fill it. Start with a template. If you are comparing tools, read the Typeform alternative, the Google Forms alternative and the Tally alternative. They list what you give up, too. Then follow the embed guide.

Option 2: use your own HTML form

If your form only collects simple answers, you can build it in plain HTML and add the script under it. Follow the core guide. You then need somewhere for the answers to go, which the form service did before.

What stays the same

Your Typeform, Google Form or Tally keeps working as it does now. You do not have to switch. Your visitors can still copy the questions into their AI by hand. They just do not get the button.

Questions

Can the script fill a Google Form that I embedded on my site?

No. The Google Form shows from Google's own address inside an iframe. The browser does not let a script on your page read into a frame from another address. The script finds no form and shows no button.

Will I see an error?

No. The script stays silent when it finds no form. I tested this with a form in a frame from another address: no button, no error, and the form inside the frame was not touched.

What is the simplest fix?

Rebuild the form in AI Form API and embed it, or use the form's page link. A short form takes minutes. The templates cover contact, RSVP, feedback, job application and more.
