AI fill for your Shopify contact form: Custom Liquid steps

Updated 2026-10-30

Your visitors are tired of typing into boxes. Let their AI do it. In Shopify you add the script with a Custom Liquid section on your contact page, under the form. Your form and your messages work as before. It takes about five minutes.

Steps

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store.
  2. Find your theme and click Edit theme.
  3. At the top, open the page drop-down menu. Select the template that your contact page uses.
  4. In the sidebar, click Add section. Type Custom Liquid in the Search sections field. Select it.
  5. Paste the snippet below into the Custom Liquid section.
  6. Drag the section so it sits below the contact form section. Hover on the section name and drag the button.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Open your contact page in a new tab. Look for the button above the form.

The snippet

html
<script src="https://aiformapi.com/agent-fill.js" data-form="#ContactForm, #contact_form"></script>

The part after data-form lists two form ids. Shopify's contact form prints contact_form by default. Dawn, the free default theme, uses ContactForm. The script uses whichever one is on your page.

If your theme uses another id

Open your contact page. Right-click the form and choose Inspect. Find the line that starts with <form and copy the value of id. Put it in data-form with a # in front, for example #my-contact.

If you cannot find Custom Liquid

Shopify says that a theme may or may not offer a Custom Liquid section. If yours does not, ask your theme developer to put the script tag in the contact page template.

Check it

Press the button. The prompt must show your field labels, such as Name, Email and Message. Give it to an AI, paste the answer back, and the boxes fill. Then press Send yourself.

What I checked

I read the Shopify help pages for the steps above. I ran the snippet on test pages built like the Dawn contact form (the markup comes from the Dawn source) and like Shopify's default contact form tag. The button appeared above the form in both. I did not run it on a live Shopify store.

Questions

My theme has no Custom Liquid section. What now?

Shopify says some themes offer a Custom Liquid section and some do not. If yours does not, ask your theme developer to add the script tag to the contact page template, or use a section or block in your theme that takes custom code.

What is my contact form's id?

Shopify's contact form tag prints id contact_form by default. Dawn, the free default theme, sets the id ContactForm. Other themes may use another id. Open your contact page, right-click the form, choose Inspect, and read the id on the line that starts with the form tag.

Will the script change how my contact form sends messages?

No. The script only fills the boxes. Your visitor reads them and presses your Send button. Shopify handles the message as it does today.
